Amazon plans huge DC in Western Sydney

E-commerce giant creates 4000 new local jobs.

Amazon Australia has entered into an agreement to purchase 17.2 hectares of land in Bradfield, Western Sydney, which will ultimately be the heart of Australia’s largest distribution centre.

The e-commerce giant has acquired land from the Ingham Property Group, which is transforming a huge site it controls next to the new western Sydney Airport into a logistics precinct.

The company has lodged plans to build a complex spanning 200,000 square metres.

Since opening its first Sydney fulfilment centre in Moorebank in 2018, Amazon has invested almost $2 billion in the region.

In 2022, Amazon opened a state-of-the-art robotics fulfilment centre in Kemps Creek, followed by a logistics site in Regents Park, and a fulfilment centre in Horsley Park which opened in 2025. An additional fulfilment centre in Horsley Park is on track to open later this year.

"This land acquisition demonstrates Amazon Australia's ongoing commitment to Western Sydney and the communities we serve," Wayne Angus, Director of Operations, Amazon Australia, said.

Amazon's continued expansion in Western Sydney has resulted in the creation of more than 4000 local jobs in the region.

These roles span fulfilment operations, logistics, technology, and management, offering competitive pay and comprehensive benefits from day one — including subsidised health insurance for the entire family, free life insurance, up to 20 weeks parental leave pay for full-time associates and a free Amazon Prime membership.

No qualifications or prior work experience are required for fulfilment centre roles.

Amazon has also unveiled plans to invest more than $750 million building Queensland’s first Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre in Logan.
