Officeworks targets more tech sales

Retailer trials in-store concept in Target
Officeworks has ramped up its tech offering by trialing a new store-within-a-store concept with Wesfarmers sister company Target.
The inaugural Officeworks Tech store inside Target at Westfield Southland in Victoria, offers more than 1400 SKUs across categories such as print-and-create self-serve, 3D printers, AirPods, iPhones and cables.
Officeworks managing director John Gualtieri said the new concept reflects the retailer’s focus on creating “more flexible ways for customers to shop.”
The impact of EOFY sales
New end-of-financial year consumer research commissioned by Officeworks has revealed EOFY sales are becoming less about impulse buying and more about intentional upgrades, with 92 per cent of respondents admitting EOFY sales motivate them to finally make purchases they’ve been putting off.
The research also found:
- 74 per cent of Australians plan their EOFY purchases in advance, rather than shopping spontaneously.
- 60 per cent intend to shop in early June, rather than waiting until the final days before June 30.
- More than half admit they still buy extra items once sales begin.
- Electronics emerged as the leading EOFY purchase category overall, with 28.4 per cent of Australians planning to buy electronics. Among those considering shopping at Officeworks, tech upgrades were the top priority at 35.3 per cent.
