OP sector hit by fake emails

Warnings issued by a supplier and dealer.

The office products sector has been targeted by online scammers who have sent bogus emails to suppliers, customers and other recipients, including Office Products News.

Diary and stationery supplier Collins Debden and Queensland dealer Gladstone Office National have been affected by the scam and have advised all of their respective email contacts to ignore and delete the fake emails, which have been sent from original email addresses with lookalike logos and contact details.

The fake email from Gladstone Office National contained the following message:

The fake email from Collins Debden’s head of sales Aaron Moore solicited proposals for an unspecified project via a link. Contacts were subsequently advised to ignore the false email and not to open the document link.

Rachel Townsend from Gladstone Office Choice told Office Products News that having advised all email contacts not to open files in the fake email, she changed passwords.
