Amazon adds same-day service to Perth

Amazon has introduced its Prime Free Same-Day delivery service to Perth for eligible orders worth more than $49.
Amazon said Western Australia (WA) is no longer the ‘Wait Awhile’ state, with the same-day service available to the majority of Perth residents.
Same-day delivery was introduced to Sydney last year.

Meantime, OPI reports that Amazon is expanding its use of automation and machine learning to reduce packaging waste across its global operations.
Announced at its Delivering the Future event in Germany on 7 May, the company said more than 70 machines are set to be deployed by the end of 2025 in Germany, the UK, France, Italy and Spain, with additional installations planned by 2027 to create made-to-fit cardboard boxes and paper bags.
Using machine learning and sensor technology, the devices tailor packaging to the exact dimensions of each product, eliminating unnecessary materials and cutting carbon emissions tied to shipping.
