Sand in a bottle may contain asbestos.

 

Officeworks has issued a recall notice for another line of art and play sand due to concerns over asbestos contamination.

 

Melissa & Doug – Sand Art Bottle (catalogue number MND4232) was recalled on 15 January, having been sold through Modern Brands Pty Ltd between 1 April 2020  and 8 January 2026.

 

The product may cause a risk to health as asbestos has been detected in some samples after laboratory testing.

 

Late last year, the Australian Consumer Competition Commission (ACCC) announced the recall for 1.3kg versions of Kadink Sand and Educational Colours – Rainbow Sand, as well as the 1kg packages of Creatistics – Coloured Sand products.

 

Additionally, Officeworks has recalled KD Plain Sand, KD Magic Sand in natural and purple, and Kadink six-piece decorative sand.
