Officeworks among top 10 retailers in online searches

Department store web sites prove popular in pandemic.

Officeworks has been ranked in the top 10 retailers by internet search volume, according to online marketing firm SEMrush.

Not surprisingly, three of Officeworks’ Wesfarmers stablemates are also in the top 10, with Bunnings in the number one spot.

In second spot was Amazon Australia, followed by Woolworths, Kmart, JB Hi-Fi, Big W, Coles, Microsoft, Harvey Norman and Officeworks.

During the latest quarter measured by SEMrush, there were a total of 633 million visits to department store websites, 413 million to electronics and office, and 410 million to home and hardware retailers.

In the past three months site traffic towards department stores, which made up the majority of the top 50 retailers analysed, surpassed any other sector with more than 63.5 million visits – a 58 per cent increase year on year.

The data suggests people are looking for good quality products at affordable prices and they are spending their time online in a COVID-safe environment in order to do so,”  SEMrush head of global marketing Olga Andrienko, told marketing site B&T.
