Office Brands takes the ‘initiative’ with two charity groups

Office Brands has partnered with two charity groups as part of the group’s ‘The Charitable Initiative’ program.

The two organisations that will be supported by the program, funded by a percentage of sales of Initiative-branded products, are Mind Blank Ltd and The Pyjama Foundation.

Mind Blank
Mind Blank offers training, education and awareness programs to support mental health.

Founder and CEO Ally Kelly has led the charity through nine years of service, for which her efforts were recognised in winning the 2017 Mental Health Matters Award for Mental Health Promotion, and in 2019 she was presented with the Mental Health Services Award for Mental Illness Prevention.

As a survivor of past trauma Ally has had first-hand experience with PTSD. Her story and passion for the cause comes from a compassion that was triggered from being a carer for a parent who has been suicidal many times.

“Statistics show that due to my history I am at higher risk of suicide and ongoing mental health issues. I refuse to accept this. I am living proof that as individuals we can change this reality,” she said.

The Pyjama Foundation
The ‘Love of Learning’ program was developed by The Pyjama Foundation to empower children in foster care with learning, life skills and confidence to change the direction of their lives.

The program is the only service of its type supporting children in care with evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs in the out-of-school environment in Australia.

Volunteers, known as ‘Pyjama Angels’, are screened, trained, recruited, and then matched with a child in foster care. Together, they spend an hour a week reading books aloud, playing educational games and engaging in fun activities.
