US retailer puts the spotlight on facility friends.

 

Staples Business in the US has launched Everyday Champions, a national contest honouring the janitorial, sanitation and facility professionals who “keep our workplaces running, often without recognition”.

 

“These are the people who show up early, stay late and go the extra mile to create clean, safe and welcoming environments so we can all do our jobs,” Mike Cusick, senior vice president, facilities solutions for Staples Business, said.

 

During September, Staples Business will accept nominations that highlight individuals who go above and beyond in their roles with three winners each receiving a cash prize of US$10,000.

 

“Much of the essential work of commercial cleaning happens when most people have gone home, overnight or during off-hours. Yet their impact is felt in every clean surface, safe hallway and operational building,” Cusick added.
